It is with great honor for Bexar County, the City of San Antonio, the Brooks Development Authority, the Brooks Heritage Foundation, the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce to lead the community in commemorating the accomplishments the Air Force has achieved over the past 95 years at Brooks and celebrating the future of Brooks City-Base. In recognition of its earliest beginnings, we are calling this event the “Brooks Field Legacy Salute”. As the Air Force prepares to leave Brooks later this year, we are asking you to come join us in preparing an evening of celebration that not only honors the men and women who have served the nation at Brooks, but also their collective accomplishments to US military aviation. We invite you to become an important member of this partnership by becoming an sponsor of this historic event. Attached please find pertinent information for your review and consideration. The Brooks Field Legacy Salute festivities will begin with a formal gala dinner, which will take place the evening of Tuesday, August 30, 2011 [6:00 – 10:00] at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Bexar County Judge Nelson W. Wolff, former San Antonio Mayor Howard W. Peak, and Brigadier General John G. Jernigan (USAF ret’d) are the event’s Chairs. Mayor Julian Castro is the Honorary Chair of the Steering Committee. The dinner will be a nostalgic tribute to the men and women who served at Brooks Field, Brooks Air Force Base and Brooks City-Base where they performed critical missions in support of our nation’s defense and its manned space program. We will be joined by the former Secretary of the Air Force, F. Whitten Peters, who played a critical role in the conversion of Brooks Air Force Base to Brooks City-Base. It is our hope the entire San Antonio community will support and attend this event as we celebrate the Air Force history with our military and civic partners. At this event, we will also share the exciting future of Brooks City-Base as it continues to develop into a high-tech, sustainable, economic catalyst for San Antonio. We look forward to your favorable response in joining us as we salute the United States Air Force, Brooks Field, and Brooks City-Base. If you have any questions feel free to call Ms. Ruth M. Medellin, Brooks Field Legacy Salute Director 210-326-0048 or by email at ruth@rmgpartners.com. We will be able glad to provide additional information. |
